You Know You’re a Stay-at-Home Mom When…

…you stampede over your children to jump in the van at the mention of a “playdate” with friends.  Hahaha!  Yes, that seems to be my take on life right now.  I can’t wait to get out of the house and visit with friends while the kids get a chance to play.

There are two really great events coming up that I am greatly anticipating because of the wonderful fellowship and friendships that will be made or strengthened.

The first is Saturday, May 19, 4:30 p.m. at Lake Willastein Park, Maumelle,  where we will be meeting with families from all over for a Down syndrome picnic/playdate.  Thanks to some of my incredible friends (Heather, Vonda & Janet :-)) the dream of creating more events for DS families to connect and encourage each other is really starting to take off.  It is going to be a great time to allow all our kids to play together on the playground and connect with new families old and young alike walking the same road as the rest of us.

On top of that, we are less than a month away from helping out with the first annual Central Arkansas Buddy Walk to be held at Cooks Landing Pavilion, North Little Rock side of Big Dam Bridge.

Leigh Anna Askins is doing a phenomenal job putting all of this together!  I was really bummed today because I wasn’t able to attend the planning meeting, but Super Vonda saved the day and took great notes. 🙂  Thanks to her, I have all my sign-up sheets to hand out and the vital information needed to help in the areas I can.  Yay!!!

What is Buddy Walk?

Central Arkansas Buddy Walk is a 1-mile walk to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.  Buddy Walk is a national organization whose events last year raised more than $11.2 million to support both local and national programs for education and advocacy initiatives.
